Gretal Leibnitz, Ph.D. is trained as an experimental psychologist and is dedicated to identifying and facilitating professional and organizational transformation using research-based strategies.
Dr.  Leibnitz served as co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) and Assistant Program Director for the NSF (U.S. National Science Foundation), an ADVANCE initiative at Washington State University's Excellence in Science and Engineering (EXCELinSE) program.  NSF-funded ADVANCE programs focus on organizational change for gender equity in STEM. Herwork targets institutional transformation strategies to enhance recruitment, retention, and advancement of diverse women faculty in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.  She founded and leads the ADVANCE Implementation Mentors (AIM) Network, a national community of practice of more than 100 change leaders representing more than 70 NSF ADVANCE-funded U.S. Institutions.
Dr. Leibnitz also served as co-PI and Project Director for the Women in Engineering ProActive Network--WEPAN's innovative Engineering Inclusive Teaching (EIT), a Faculty Professional Development project; and PI and Project Director for the Transforming Engineering Culture to Advance Inclusion and Diversity (TECAID) Initiative with WEPAN, the American Society for Mechanical Engineers and Purdue University.  She currently leads the American Society for Engineering Education's (ASEE's) NSF ADVANCE-funded Engineering Deans Gender Equity (EDGE) Initiative. Most recently, she and her colleagues were recently awarded an NSF ADVANCE-funded Partnership grant to work with STEM Professional Societies in the U.S. to amplify the awareness, adaptation, and trial of evidence-based strategies to promote organizational excellence through diversity, equity, and inclusion.
